Rio Saren was born in 1981 in the village of Sibang Kaja, where Balinese traditions are practiced vigorously. Rio grew up absorbing the various elements of its tradition, and to improve his natural artistic ability he studied at the Indonesian Institute of Art, Denpasar. Rio refused to graduate, however and left the institute believing its learning conditions were not conducive enough.
Giving up formal education did not stop Rio’s artistic journey, exploring many potential creations outside the boundaries set by the school. His thirst for creation turned any kind of object into works of art. Rio paintings include flowing and fluid brushstrokes. Woman are the biggest inspiration in his artworks, symbolizing of strength ,beauty, and deserving in his life.
